Senior care, demystified.
The answers families actually need — about pricing, services, caregivers, insurance, and getting started. If your question isn't here, call us.
About getting started
Call or fill out the consultation form and we'll reach out within 24 hours. We schedule a free, no-obligation in-home visit (usually 30–45 minutes) to meet you, understand the situation, and talk through options. If it's a good fit on both sides, we build a custom care plan. If it's not, we'll happily refer you to a colleague.
Yes — the initial in-home consultation is free. No deposit, no pressure, no commitment. We believe you shouldn't have to pay to find out whether we're the right fit for your family.
For non-urgent situations, we typically start within one week of the consultation. For urgent needs — hospital discharge, sudden change in ability — we can often begin within 24–48 hours.
No. We operate week-to-week. You can increase, decrease, pause, or end service at any time with a simple phone call. The only ask is 48 hours' notice for major schedule changes when possible, so we can manage our calendar fairly.
About services & care
Personal care, companion care, transportation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, respite care, and errand services. Most clients combine two or three of these into a single visit.
We are a non-medical home care provider. We do not administer medications, perform wound care, or provide skilled nursing. When those are needed, we coordinate seamlessly with a home health agency so you get the full picture of care without juggling two schedules.
One hour for errand and transportation visits. Two hours for all other in-home visits. This lets us actually get something meaningful done without feeling rushed.
Yes — that's the whole point of Care Harbor. You get the owner, every visit. That consistency is what allows us to truly know your loved one's preferences, routines, and needs.
For planned time off, we give at least two weeks' notice and work with you to bridge coverage — either by adjusting the schedule, using a vetted backup caregiver you've met in advance, or pausing service. For unexpected illness or emergency, we'll communicate immediately and arrange coverage you're comfortable with.
About pricing & payment
Rates start at $26/hour for companion and housekeeping, $28/hour for personal care and meals, and $30/hour for transportation and respite. The average corporate agency in Palm Beach County charges $31/hour for similar services, often with less consistency. Custom plans available — call for a detailed quote.
We accept credit card, ACH, and check. Invoices are issued weekly for services delivered. Long-term care insurance reimbursement paperwork is provided at no extra cost.
No. Mileage within Palm Beach County is included. There are no setup fees, assessment fees, or cancellation fees. Grocery and errand purchases are reimbursed at exact cost, with every receipt.
Medicare does not cover non-medical home care. Long-term care insurance policies almost always do — we're happy to help with reimbursement paperwork. VA benefits (Aid & Attendance) are accepted. Medicaid waiver programs vary by county — ask us and we'll help you navigate it.
About caregiver qualifications
Care Harbor is owner-operated. You get the same person — the owner — every visit. Credentials include {{REPLACE: list actual certifications, e.g. HHA license, CPR, background check, liability insurance}}.
Yes. The owner has a Level 2 background check on file (fingerprint-based, AHCA-standard), current CPR certification, and full liability and workers' compensation insurance.
Yes — licensed in the State of Florida as a Home Care Services provider, fully insured, and bonded. We can share copies of all credentials during the initial consultation.
We have experience with early- and mid-stage dementia, including Alzheimer's. For advanced-stage dementia with behavioral complications, we'll honestly assess whether we're the right fit — and refer you elsewhere if not.
About insurance & billing
Most long-term care policies cover non-medical home care once an elimination period is met (typically 30–90 days). We provide itemized invoices and caregiver notes that insurance carriers accept. Call us with your policy number and we'll walk through what's covered.
Yes — the VA Aid & Attendance benefit helps eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses pay for non-medical home care. We can refer you to an accredited VA benefits counselor if you haven't filed yet.
Sometimes, when care is part of a physician-ordered plan of care. We recommend checking with your plan administrator before assuming coverage.
